CiviCRM 5.70

Your CiviCRM instance has been upgraded from 5.65 to 5.70. It is part of the regular upgrades that we do 2 to 3 times per year. The majority of the changes are very minor and bring mostly new features for developers, or to improve the stability of CiviCRM. Please do not hesitate to open an issue via your Gitlab account if you encounter any problems. If you do not have a Gitlab account with us, please use the contact form on our website.

Changes to the user interface

There may be small changes to the CiviCRM interface (for logged-in users, such as staff) for collapsible groups of fields (accordions). CiviCRM has changed the formatting of some elements to improve accessibility. We are also continuing to improve the theme we use, in order to improve the contacts, size of text and the layout on a mobile device (ex: when using a mobile device, the contact tabs are now displayed at the top of the screen).

Menu reorganization test

We are running a test on certain installations to simplify the CiviCRM menu by moving the menu items "Find Contact", "Advanced Search" and "Find Activities" under the Contacts menu, which allows us to hide the "Search" menu completely. This menu mostly had redundant menu items. As for SearchKit, it can now be found under Administer > Customize Data and Screens.

Extensions

The SearchKit extension, which makes it possible to create listings or custom reports, has a new interface that is slightly more intuitive. It's not as "user-friendly" as we would like, but it is better. Meanwhile, it has become an essential tool that helps us to more quickly implement requests, with less custom code.

The FormBuilder also has many new improvements. The most important is that it now supports conditionally displaying a field, based on the value of another field. We had already deployed this feature for some users on CiviCRM 5.65, but it is now official and generally available.

Online payments

The Stripe extension has been updated to the latest version 6.10.2. It is now also possible to use Stripe Checkout, which offers a different payment experience, in two steps instead of one. The main advantage is that it supports other payments methods such as Google Checkout, or other processors depending on the region.
